Dear Beechmont Neighborhood Association Members, We, the current BNA Board, want to extend our sincere apologies for the disruption regarding the planned location for the upcoming special election. As many of you know, the public library has served as our meeting location for years, and it has consistently been our designated and dependable meeting space. In keeping with that long-standing arrangement, we booked the library for the special election as well. However, on December 11, 2025, we received notice from the library stating that they will not be allowing any BNA functions until further notice. We have attached the letter we received for your reference. At this time, we are not aware of any alternative public locations available on such short notice. We have seen correspondence from candidates regarding possible planning efforts, and we encourage you to consider hosting the special election at one of the candidates’ homes or another venue accessible to the membership. Please know that none of the current board members are running for any office, and we remain fully committed to supporting a smooth and fair election process. We truly wish you the very best in moving forward with your election and securing a suitable new location. Again, we apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your understanding during this unexpected circumstance. Warm regards, The Current BNA Board NOTICE FROM THE LIBRARY: Thank you for talking with me on the phone earlier. This e-mail is a follow up to that conversation. The meeting your group had on 12/2/2025 at the Iroquois Branch Library resulted in several complaints and issues. Several sections of the Meeting Room Rules & Guidelines were violated. On your application you checked “I have read and understand the policies for use of any Louisville Free Public Library meeting room. I acknowledge that permission for use of a meeting room may be revoked and/or further reservations denied if these policies are not followed.” As requested, here are some of the violations reported: · Disruptive behavior · Behavior that endangers people or property (blocking of the Emergency Exit, room over capacity) · Failing to comply with a reasonable request from Library staff or security personnel · Creating disruptive noises such as loud talking, screaming, or yelling Due to these violations, the Beechmont Neighborhood Association’s meeting room privileges are being suspended for at least six months beginning immediately and at all LFPL locations. If after 6/2/2026 you’d like to request the meeting room again, please contact Iroquois Manager Mary Beth Meece at 502-574-1720. You have the right to appeal this decision to the Library Director. You can make an appointment by calling 502-574-1760. Thank you, Carrick Arehart Director of Public Services Louisville Free Public Library 502-574-1712 |
